After completion of his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Dr. Angus McAlpin completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester.
He then served as a medical officer in the Indian Health Service stationed in Fort Defiance, Arizona. After three years on the Navajo Nation, he transitioned to private practice, joining Southwest Internal Medicine in Cortez, CO. There he provided comprehensive primary care medicine for residents of Southwest Colorado.
After fifteen years in the Four Corners region, he relocated to Lander, WY and joined the Lander Medical Clinic serving as an internal medicine physician.
He is now excited and honored to provide high quality care to members of the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapahoe tribes at Warm Valley Health Care.
He lives in Lander, WY with his wife, Ami, and enjoys cycling, skiing and the outdoors when not working.
Amanda Kinley was raised at the foot of the Tetons. She loves the snow, the seasons, and the satisfaction of a job well done.
She completed her undergraduate training at University of Wyoming with a B.S. in Microbiology and a minor in Vocal Performance. During medical school, through University of Washington, she and her husband, Eddie, traveled the WWAMI region (WA, WY, AK, MT, ID). They continue to live in the travel trailer they affectionately call their GoHome. She completed residency in Klamath Falls, OR at Cascades East Family Medicine Residency and spent an additional year in training for surgical obstetrics with the Tacoma Family Medicine Rural Medicine with Obstetrics Fellowship.
She advocates for preventive medicine through healthy living and looks forward to the breadth and variety that her career in rural family medicine will bring. Her wish is to encourage and bolster her patients’ healthy life choices and grow to know them so she may provide them the best of care.
Dr. Kinley loves bringing new life into the world and helping families and loved ones through the pain and joy that life brings. She strives for clear communication and understanding. Her special interests include women's health and pediatrics. She cares for people of all ages.
Outside of work she delights in hiking, canoeing, singing and skiing, foraging, figure skating, and working outside. She returned to Wyoming in fall of 2024 and is excited to continue to learn, grow, adventure, and teach.
I graduated from University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1993 and completed Family Practice Residency at Lancaster General Hospital in PA from 1993 to 1996. I worked in Lancaster and Columbia, PA from 1996 to 2003 doing full service Family Practice including ER, Obstetrics, and newborn care. I've enjoyed working in Fort Washakie, WY for the past 21 years, from 2003 to present, as a full time Family Practitioner. I'm excited about the new opportunites at Warm Valley Health Care to provide expanding services to the community.
Originally from New Hampshire, joined the Wind River Service Unit in 2016.
He started his healthcare career as a behavioral health tech at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah. After becoming a Registered Nurse he worked in Behavioral Health, Medical/Oncology and the Emergency Department while pursuing a degree and board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. His training included internship rotations at various specialty and family medicine clinics in the Intermountain region of Northern Utah as well as at the Chief Andrew Isaac Health Center in Fairbanks, Alaska. While in Alaska he assisted the Tanana Chiefs Conference in preliminary planning for an integrated healthcare model that would incorporate Alaska Native Traditional Healing with the main Tribal Health Clinic.
After graduating with a Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2013 he did inpatient hospital care in Northern Utah for 3 years. He moved to the Wind River Service Unit to pursue his dream of working in a rural, family medicine clinic.
Max Matson
Max was born and raised in Lander, WY. He attended the University of Washington School of Medicine for his medical degree and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Colorado.
He practiced in Arizona for five years before returning to Fremont County in July of 2023.
He has been practicing at Warm Valley Healthcare center since that time. Max enjoys building relationships with patients, and hearing their story in order to provide excellent medical care.
As an Internist he specializes in patients 18 and older. Max enjoys spending time with his two children and wife. In particular he enjoys spending time outside exploring the Wind River Mountains on foot, bike or paddle board.
Rubin Chandran MD is a board-certified nephrologist (kidney specialist) with over 21 years of continuous practice experience. He earned his medical degree at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO in 1998. He completed his internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship at the University of California in San Diego and is certified as a fellow of the American Society of Nephrology (FASN). His first experience working as a physician on a Native American reservation was during his internal medicine residency at the Navajo clinic in Tuba City, AZ in 2000. After completion of his training in 2003 he joined a nephrology practice in Portland OR where he practiced as a full-time physician for 17 years.
Dr. Chandran has a passion for rural healthcare and left the Portland nephrology practice in 2020 to start Renasolve, which is a physician organization dedicated to providing nephrology and dialysis care to underserved communities. Renasolve’s first nephrology program was in McAlester OK on the Choctaw Nation and is currently active in 7 states. Dr. Chandran is excited to work at the Wind River Dialysis Center and the Warm Valley Clinic in Fort Washakie.
In his free time Dr. Chandran enjoys travel, cooking, wine and collecting rare medical books. He lives in Cheyenne, WY.
Born in Beaumont, Texas and raised in Louisiana, Jerry spent his early adult years in construction, oilfield, and sales before obtaining his bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1994.
As an RN he worked the ER and ICU areas with stints in PACU, Geri psych, and prison nursing. He was a travel nurse for over seven years, working mostly out of the ICU, and has been to forty-seven of the fifty states. Three and a half years as manager of a primary care team with the Veteran’s Administration piqued his interest in becoming a nurse practitioner and he obtained his Master’s degree as an adult primary care practitioner in 2019.
As a midlevel provider he worked brief stints in endocrinology, hematology, and oncology before settling into a federally funded rural health clinic as a primary care practitioner.
An avid hiker, he has hiked the highest peak in New Mexico, Vermont, Maine, North Carolina, Georgia, and 29 of the top 40 in New Hampshire, including all the 5,000 footers. Gannett Peak in Wyoming and Mt. Elbert in Colorado are next on his list. He has hiked the Colorado Trail and over twelve hundred miles on the Appalachian Trail. The Continental Divide Tail, the Ice Age Trail, the Arizona Trail, and the Great Divide Trail are on his retirement list. Reading, jogging, kayaking, and biking make up some of his other interests.
Working for the Indian Health Service in a western state close to mountains has long been a goal and he is excited about being a part of the clinic at Fort Washakie.
Vanessa Sorrels is an enrolled member of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe. She graduated with a doctorate of pharmacy in 2019 from the University of Wyoming.
She had a strong desire to return home to help her people and live closer to family. She took a position with IHS Wind River Service Unit (WRSU) in August of 2019 as a clinical pharmacist.
She enjoys working in the pharmacy and helping patients with their medications and disease management. She also likes the ability to work closely with the medical providers. Recently, she became the Chief Pharmacist at Warm Valley Health Care Pharmacy formerly known as IHS WRSU.
When Vanessa is not at work, she is generally spending time with her family. She has two daughters and two dogs that occupy most of her time. She also loves watching movies, reading, hiking, and fishing..
Daniel graduated from the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy in 2010. Immediately after earning his Doctor of Pharmacy degree, he moved to Lander and began working at the Fort Washakie Health Center (IHS), where he has served in a variety of roles, including Staff Pharmacist, Clinical Pharmacist, Chief of Pharmacy, and Clinical Applications Coordinator. He now continues to provide care as a Clinical Pharmacist.
A Lieutenant Commander in the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service, Daniel is dedicated to ensuring patients receive the best care possible. In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors and supporting his children in their athletic pursuits.
Hyrum received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2016 from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Following graduation, he worked at Pyramid Lake Tribal Health Clinic as a pharmacist. Desiring an opportunity to hone his clinical skills, he moved to Wyoming in 2020 to work at Fort Washakie Health Center, now Warm Valley Health Care. He enjoys getting to know patients while helping them receive needed care. Outside of the clinic, Hyrum can often be found spending time in various places with his family hiking, biking, and/or traveling. He also appreciates time at home enjoying music and reading when he can get away with it.
Earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Wyoming in Laramie in 2004 and has since built a diverse career in retail, hospital, and home infusion pharmacy settings. In December 2024, Yvette joined Warm Valley Health Care, where she is dedicated to improving patient outcomes and enhancing overall well-being of patients through her clinical skills.
Outside of work, Yvette values spending time with family, friends, and her dogs. She enjoys outdoor activities such as camping, four-wheeling, and snowmobiling, along with creative pursuits like quilting, painting, and pottery. Yvette is married, a proud mother to two children and three stepchildren, and a loving grandmother to four grandchildren.
Esther Jarvis is a Clinical pharmacist assigned to Warm Valley Health Care Pharmacy in Fort Washakie, Wyoming. She is a Wyoming native and obtained her Bachelor’s of Health Science and Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Wyoming. She is commissioned as a
Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) in the United Public Health Service. LCDR Jarvis began her career with the Indian Health Service in 2008 working with Alaska Natives at the Maniilaq Health Center in Kotzebue, Alaska.
She became a Certified Diabetes Care and Education
Specialist (CDCES) in 2017, became Board Certified as an Ambulatory Care Pharmacist in 2021 and certified as a National Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in 2023.
LCDR Jarvis has been providing comprehensive diabetes care, education, and continuous glucose monitor management to people with diabetes across the Wind River Reservation since 2018.
The most rewarding part of her job is building relationships with the patients she serves and helping them understand and gain better control of their diabetes. She describes her greatest accomplishment as being a wife and mother. She has been married to her husband Ty for 21 years and has three children – Tanna, Eli and Cora.
Dr. McLaughlin completed his master’s degree training in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Connecticut. He later earned his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Miami University (OH), accompanied by a pre-doctoral internship at the University of Maryland (UM) VAMHC internship consortium, with specialized placement in UM’s national Center for School Mental Health. After serving populations across diverse age groups, constellations, ethnicities, geographic locations, and clinical settings—to include partial-hospitalization, community mental health, Job Corps, private practice, and various school settings—he joined I.H.S. in 2019. Dr. McLaughlin performs individual and couples/family psychotherapy, and is experienced in a wide array of psychological evaluation procedures. Since their arrival in Fremont County in 2008, he and his wife, Melinda, have enjoyed raising their five children in this beautiful environment. Outside of work, Dr. McLaughlin enjoys running, water sports, music, theater, family travel, and (by trial and error) growing pine trees.
Kathleen Phillips, a trauma-focused therapist, brings over 17 years of experience in mental health counseling to the Wind River Service Unit: Warm Valley Health Center.
From a young age, Kathleen was drawn to psychology and found herself naturally helping those around her. Certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, she specializes in aiding survivors of various traumas, including military, Sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence, etc.
Throughout her career, Kathleen has worked in diverse settings such as residential Programs for teenagers, community mental health organizations, and community health centers.
She notably developed a 12-week emotions management group for teenagers, showcasing her dedication to innovative therapeutic approaches.
In her new role, Kathleen aims to leverage her extensive knowledge and expertise to support individuals in addressing their mental health challenges and traumas. She is committed to helping her clients discover and utilize their inherent strengths and is eager to collaborate with her colleagues to enhance their skills in aiding clients as well.
Recently returning to Lander from Cleveland, Ohio, for health reasons, Kathleen is excited to re- engage with the community where she completed her master's practicum. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys reading, nature photography, biking, hiking, and fishing.
Jason Jurca, DDS is a graduate of the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry.
Upon completing his basic dental education, he attended residency training in advanced general dentistry at the Idaho State University Advanced Education in General Dentistry program.
His previous professional experiences in dentistry include public health and private practice. His passion in dentistry is authentic and personal patient interactions with a strong emphasis on providing excellent patient care.

Dr Jurca is married to his wife, Arianna. Together they have three children – two boys and one girl. When not involved in patient care, Dr Jurca enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, and fishing.
